AMES, Iowa- Melvin Ejim emerged as one of the best small forwards in the country while playing for one of the best prep schools in the nation last year. The Cyclone freshman, who has been a key contributor for ISU, played at perennial power Brewster Academy (N.H.), helping them to a 34-4 overall mark and a national prep school championship in 2010.
Ejim (6-6, 215) is familiar with success. Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Ejim wanted to play for the best, so he hooked up at Brewster and competed with a number of high-level Division I prospects. That didn’t stop him from earning individual honors. Ejim was named New Hampshire’s Gatorade Player of the Year, given annually to the state’s top player. Melvin Ejim is currently averaging 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
