OPEN ASSESSMENT FOR CADET MEN’S NATIONAL TEAM

TORONTO – Canada Basketball will conduct a Cadet Men’s National Team (CMNT) open assessment session on Thursday, May 19 at Ryerson University from 6:30–9:30 p.m. ET. This is open to Canadian male athletes aged 16 and under as of Dec. 31, 2011 and who have a valid Canadian passport. Players will be assessed by the National Team coaching staff for potential selection to the 2011 Cadet Men’s National Team Program.


Athletes interested in participating in the CMNT open assessment session can pre-register by completing the online registration form and insurance form, which can be found on basketball.ca (click here for online registration form).

Players must bring these signed forms to the camp in order to register. Registration and sign-in at Ryerson University begins at 5 p.m. and will close at 6:15 p.m. Registration and insurance forms will also be available on-site.

Note that your parent/guardian must sign the registration and insurance forms.

2011 CMNT TRYOUT SESSION – MAY 19

6:30-8:00pm - Open Tryout 1996 Born athletes

8:00-9:30pm - Open Tryout 1995 Born athletes

All athletes are responsible for their own gear and expenses to attend and participate in the open tryouts. There will be an athletic therapist on-site; however, all athletes are responsible for their own wraps and taping.

The Cadet National Team will represent Canada at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Men from June 21–25 in Leon and Guanajuanto, Mexico.

Last summer, the Cadet Men’s National Team won bronze at the 2010 U17 FIBA World championship for Men in Hamburg, Germany. This marked the first time that FIBA had hosted a tournament at this age level.
